Food · Can my pet eat this?

Can dogs and cats eat almonds, walnuts and other nuts?

Also covers: pecans, pistachios, cashews

DogsOnly with care

Nuts are very fatty and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea and possibly pancreatitis. Salted or flavoured nuts are worse.

CatsOnly with care

Same concerns as for dogs.

If your pet ate some: A few plain nuts are rarely an emergency. Macadamias are the exception: call your vet.
